New wave of design for Monaco property market

Tour Odeon: The new development will stand out from traditional building styles

For the past 20 years most new buildings and renovations in Monaco have either followed the traditional 'Belle Epoque' style, or fairly uninspiring modern designs. In addition, very few new tall buildings have graced the city's skyline, largely due to planning restraints.

But, as pressure on the limited amount of land available grows, the authorities appear to be easing their stance and are approving applications for larger and more contemporary projects. Some of these rival those on offer in key global centres, such as London and New York, and are competing for the attention of discerning wealthy international buyers.

The prime example of this new trend is Tour Odeon, a sleek 49-storey glass and steel tower which, at 170 metres, will be the tallest building in Monaco and among the 10 highest in France and Monaco combined.
